Dr. David Provenzano is the Executive Medical Director of the Ohio Valley General Hospital Institute for Pain Diagnostics and Care.  Prior to becoming the Medical Director, he received his undergraduate degree from Colgate University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and became a Phi Beta Kappa member.  He received his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. 

 

He completed a surgical internship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, a residency in anesthesiology at The Western Pennsylvania Hospital, and a subspecialty pain fellowship at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.  In October of 2009, he began his two year term as the President of Board of the Directors of the American Chronic Pain Association.

 

Dr. Provenzano has served as a principal investigator on multiple research studies, authored a book chapter and published many articles.  He has lectured at numerous national meetings on the management of acute and chronic pain.  Furthermore, he also serves as an external member of the Robert Morris University IRB, a Board Member of the American Chronic Pain Association, a member of the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine Research Committee, a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists Subcommittee on Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain, and an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Duquesne University’s Mylan School of Pharmacy.  He has extensive interests and expertise in the conservative and minimally invasive treatment of pain originating from the cervical and lumbar spine.

 

In addition Dr. Provenzano will be presenting at the American Society of Anesthesiologists Annual Meeting in October 2010 in San Diego, CA. Dr. Provenzano will be a presenter and instructor on the following topics:

 

- Postoperative Pain and the Patient with Opioid Tolerance

- Fluoroscopic Versus Ultrasound Views for Chronic Pain
- Spinal Cord, Occipital, Supra-orbital, Peripheral Nerve Stimulation

 

Also, Dr. Provenzano will be presenting at the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Management (ASRA) 2010 Annual Pain Medicine Meeting and Workshops in Phoenix, AZ in November 2010. Invited Lectures include:

 

- Ultrasound in Pain Medicine:  Lumbar Spine
- Ultrasound in Pain Medicine:  Cervical Spine, Stellate Ganglion
- Ultrasound in Pain Medicine:  Trunk: Sonoanatomy and Injection Techniques
